Stage 3: York to Leeds

The York to Leeds stage is the longest of the Beer Coaster, longer than a marathon! Yet we believe it may be one of the most popular, being directly between two great cities.

We suggest leaving York along Micklegate and the A1036, crossing over the A64 on the Tadcaster Road and continuing southwest along the country roads and lanes, avoiding the A64 where there are no suitable paths.

It's then possible to run alongside the A64 from just east of Street Houses through to Tadcaster and the A659 to Bramham before going crosscountry again to Potterton and Barwick in Elmet, turning west then along the Leeds Road and rejoining the A64 as far as Leeds city centre.

This route is approximately 44km with a total climb of roughly230m.

Please remember these are just our suggestions; your tastes in venues may very well be different. We're not affiliated with any of these, and don't even know when they are open, so make sure to check when planning your run!
